The image in the header is a picture that means a great deal to me. What you’re looking at is the Old Man of Storr, located on the Isle of Skye in the Scottish highlands. I took that picture when I was there on vacation quite some time ago and recently scanned it. When I was doing my undergraduate degree, I spent a semester in Edinburgh, Scotland and it changed my life.
Before that time, I had never traveled out of the Northeast, let alone out of the country. I was with a group of 8 other students from my school studying at what was then Queen Margaret College. While there, I made friends from all over the world: Ireland, Norway, Italy, even Bahrain, people that I’m still friends with some 14 years later.
My experience that semester has shaped a large part of who I am today, and is something I am extremely proud of.
